The business was started in 1987 by Mel "Frog" Dollarhide, who became a sign painter after a very successful stint pinstriping vehicles. He had acquired the nickname "Frog" during his career, and it became the name of his business.
Doug, Mel’s oldest son, joined his dad part time in the beginning, free handing patterns for race car graphics, helped his dad with layouts, and developing his own talent with an air brush. At only 16, Doug was hired to paint his first sign for a local business. Soon enough, Doug joined his father full-time. Twenty-plus years later, Mel is retired and Doug is the owner and manager of Frog Signs.
Our business name sounds casual, but we are very serious when it comes to satisfying the needs of our customers. We take great pride in our work, and it shows.
Frog's Detailed Specialties started with Mel and Doug painting signs and vehicle graphics using brushes, lettering enamels and air-brushing techniques. The business grew, moved to a larger location, and began using a computerized sign system. This was the beginning of an exciting transition from the old fashioned painted signs and graphics to the contemporary method of using vinyl media to create more durable and long-lasting products.
As new technologies developed, we continued to upgrade in order to provide our customers with the best finished
product available. We now use state-of-the-art, wide format ink jet technology and the latest in vinyl cutting equipment.
Our customer base continues to grow -- and we want to express our sincere gratitude and deep appreciation for those who entrust us with their work and continue to be faithful patrons to this day.
